When he frirst arrived at Franklin Pierce,  Brett Bosley was focused on a career playing baseball. His plans were suddenly sidetracked by career-ending Tommy John surgery.

Bosley played his entire freshman year pitching for the Franklin Pierce Ravens and mentioned that baseball was his number one focus. “I never really got involved too much my freshman year because baseball took up a lot of time,” Bosley confessed, “it was just one of those things.”

Bosley’s dream had  been to play Major League Baseball, even though he admitted it was probably a long shot. “I had to change,” he said, and this change would affect Bosley for the better as he furthered his education at Franklin Pierce.

Bosley says that going to Franklin Pierce was “the best decision I’ve made.” At first, Bosley’s enjoyed striking out batters for the Ravens. As the season progressed however, he gradually felt a searing pain in his throwing arm. After the pain became too great, Bosley sought out a doctor and was informed he would need Tommy John surgery, which would most likely end his baseball career. He then looked for other other options to prepare him for the future.

At the end of his freshman year, the Franklin Pierce baseball team  hosted the regional finals on their home turf. Bosley took advantage of the opportunity. “I met up with Casey Williams ( a fellow communications major who worked for the FPU radio station) and I just said you know, let’s do this, let’s get this done and everything just took off from there.” That was Bosley’s first game as a radio broadcaster and since then he has never once thought back on his baseball career. He now runs WFPC-LP 105.3 FM, “The Talon”, at Franklin Pierce and is loving every minute of it.

Bosley will be a senior next year at Franklin Pierce University. He hopes to graduate with a degree in Mass Communications with a focus on radio broadcasting.
