Why New Hampshire?

With so much political attention accumulating around New Hampshire the question begs to be asked, “why New Hampshire?”

The primary has started in New Hampshire since the 1952, before 1952 only two elections happened without a primary prior to them. Since then New Hampshire has continued to carry the tradition as the first state of presidental canidate attention. It’s also known which ever canidate wins the majority vote within New Hampshire usually moves on to win the presidental annomination.

According to David Tirrell-Wysoki “New Hampshire citizens are spoiledwhen it comes to getting to know canidates.” he continues to say ” We see them all the time, we can see them on the streets and we have the opportunity to meet them on an individual basis.” This allows citizens to gain more of an insight on canidates beliefs as oppose to allowing the media to persuade their opinions. New Hampshire is an uniqe state where the line separating canidates and voters is thin, a state where some citizens will go to a canidate’s rallies four to six times before making a decion to support or oppose them.

The date of the New Hampshire primary takes place the 2nd tuesday of March but is always subject to change by the secretary of state. As a result of New Hampshire’s influence upon the election many other states are trying to move up their dates for thier primaries in order to dilute the power and influence of New Hampshire. The New Hampshire is set to begin Feburary 14th of 2012.
